A broad agreement has largely been reached on the successor to Iran’s assassinated Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Ayatollah Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, a member of the Assembly of Experts, on Sunday, according to Reuters.
However, he noted that “certain obstacles” still need to be overcome in the process.
Iranian media also reported that there is minor disagreement within the body responsible for appointing the Supreme Leader regarding whether the final decision must be made during an in-person session or whether it can be announced without that procedural requirement.
Trump dismisses threats from Iranian officials: “I don’t care at all”
Donald Trump appears completely indifferent to threats from Iran’s top security official, rejecting warnings that he could “pay the price” for the war in the Middle East.
In a phone interview with CBS News, Trump commented on statements by Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, who has emerged as a prominent figure in Tehran following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28.
“I have no idea what he’s talking about, who he is. I don’t care at all,” Trump said, adding that Larijani “has already been defeated.”
Demand for “unconditional surrender”
The U.S. president said the military campaign will continue as he demands Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” portraying Iranian leaders as weakened.
“His goal was to take over the Middle East and now he has surrendered to all the countries because of me,” Trump said in the interview, adding that Larijani “has already surrendered to all the countries of the Middle East because he was trying to control the entire region.”

Kuwait’s official news agency later reported that a fire that had broken out at the airport was brought under control, with no “serious injuries.”
Kuwait’s Interior Ministry had earlier announced the deaths of two border guards, without specifying the cause or whether it was related to the war.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, condemned in a statement “the targeting of vital facilities and civilian infrastructure” by Iran, calling it a “dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability” of these countries.

“At some point, there may be nobody left to say ‘we surrender.’”

Despite the lack of access to the global internet, many residents are finding ways to communicate and exchange information:
Some Iranians have managed to connect through satellite services, such as those provided by private satellite internet systems, allowing a limited number of users to access global online services even during the blackout.
Pezeshkian says his comments were “misinterpreted by the enemy”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that his comments were “misinterpreted by the enemy seeking to sow division with neighbors,” according to state television, after his statements were interpreted as a decision to suspend attacks on Gulf countries, even though the strikes did not stop.
“It has been repeatedly said that we are brothers and should have good relations with our neighbors. However, we are forced to respond to attacks, but this does not mean we have a dispute with a (neighboring) country or that we want to disturb their peoples,” Pezeshkian said.
