Mytilene (Greek: Μυτιλήνη) is an ancient city founded in the 11th century BC. The seat of governor of the North Aegean Region is Mytilene. Mytilene is built on the southeast edge of the island. It is also the seat of a metropolitan bishop of the Orthodox church.
