Kerry Needham, the tragic mother of Ben Needham – who went missing from the island of Kos on July 24, 1991 – has not lost hope that she would someday see her son again. Vanished at 21 months, the toddler who disappeared while holidaying with his family on the isle of Kos in Greece would be 25 years old today. To commemorate a quarter of a century of his life, most of it without her by his side, the mother is back in Greece yet again to take part in a top-rating TV show on missing persons on Friday in the hope that she’ll find new information that would lead her to Ben or at least help her find out whatever happened to him.

On the show, she’ll appear with Ben’s grandmother Christine and the boy’s sister Leighanna, born after he went missing. Detective Superintendent Matthew Fenwick and Detective Inspector Jon Cousins of the South Yorkshire Police will also take part in the missing persons’ program.

Kerry wrote on her fundraising site on Wednesday:

“As part of the launch of Operation Ben I have arrived in Athens this morning with my family and detectives from South Yorkshire Police.

During our five days here we will be meeting the British ambassador for the first time in 23 years to discuss Ben’s case.
