According to the statement, the contestant was injured when a tourist boat struck him while he was spearfishing. His condition is described as serious but stable and not life-threatening. The production company also called for responsibility in the circulation of information until the official investigation by the authorities is completed.

“Following our initial announcement regarding the serious accident involving a Survivor contestant in the Dominican Republic, and out of a sense of responsibility toward the public and, above all, toward the contestant himself, we consider it necessary to clarify the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred.

According to the information available so far, the accident appears to have happened when a tourist boat injured the contestant while he was spearfishing outside the competitive process of the reality show.

From the very first moment, there was an immediate response to provide assistance and safely transport the injured contestant, while the competent port authorities are investigating the causes of the incident in order to fully determine the circumstances.

The contestant remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger.

Out of respect for the injured contestant and his family, we ask for responsibility and for inaccurate information not to be reproduced until the official investigation is completed. We are committed to keeping you informed regarding developments and the clarification of the incident.”

Contestant Seriously Injured by Boat Propellers

According to local outlet cdn.com.do, the serious accident occurred off Saona Island in the Dominican Republic, when a tourist boat struck a Greek Survivor contestant, causing severe injuries. The incident took place in the area where filming for the SKAI survival reality show is conducted, while authorities are investigating the exact circumstances.

In a statement, the Dominican Republic Navy said that the vessel named Adrien III returned Sunday morning to the Bayahibe shipyard after the accident off Saona Island.

According to the boat’s captain, Walker Nathan Polanco Morales, the vessel was heading toward Saona Island as part of a tourist excursion when it accidentally struck the Greek contestant, who was diving in the area.

The contestant suffered serious injuries from the propellers of the boat’s outboard engines.

Rescue personnel from the Dominican Republic’s National Emergency System rushed to the scene and provided first aid before transporting him to Centro Médico Central Romana hospital.

The injured Greek contestant remains hospitalized under specialized medical care.

The Dominican Republic Navy, acting as the competent maritime authority, is conducting an investigation into the causes of the accident and the exact conditions under which it occurred.

SKAI Suspends Broadcast of Survivor

SKAI expressed its support and sympathy for the contestant and his family. The station clarified that although production of the show is carried out exclusively under the responsibility of Acun Medya, it is closely monitoring the contestant’s condition and intends to contribute in every possible way to his medical treatment and rehabilitation process.

Finally, the station announced that broadcasts of the program will be suspended until the causes of the incident are fully investigated.
