The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) has updated its Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin, according to the latest forecast data, warning of a significant change in weather today, Friday 12 June 2026.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern and central Greece, with the phenomena locally accompanied by squalls, increased lightning activity, and possible hailstorms.
The regions expected to be affected have been expanded to include Thrace and the islands of the northeastern Aegean, while in some areas the intense phenomena will last until the morning hours of Saturday.

Weather deterioration is expected today, Friday (12-06-2026), in northern and central Greece with locally strong rain and thunderstorms, which will temporarily be accompanied by strong winds (squalls), frequent lightning activity, and there is a possibility of local hailstorms.
More specifically, strong rain and thunderstorms are forecast:
a. In Macedonia today Friday from midday to evening hours, except for the area of Halkidiki and eastern Macedonia, where the phenomena will continue until the early hours of Saturday,
b. in Thessaly and in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Epirus today Friday from midday to evening hours,
c. in the Sporades and Evia from Friday night until the late morning hours of Saturday,
d. in eastern Central Greece today Friday from the afternoon to the evening hours,
e. in Thrace from the afternoon hours of Friday until the morning hours of Saturday,
f. in the islands of the northeastern Aegean (mainly the area of Lemnos) from Friday night until the morning hours of Saturday.
