The previous Bruce Jenner, aka Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympic decathlon gold medalist and US reality TV star Bruce Jenner maybe the most prominent person to change … gender, but not the only celebrity or well-known individual to do show.

Here are a few others, mostly known to US audiences, however.

Chaz Salvatore Bono transformed into a man after being born as Chastity Bono, the only daughter of Sonny Bono and Cher, who was reportedly not too pleased with Chaz’s decision.

The Matrix co-director Laurence Wachowski changed into Lana Wachowski in 2012, Hollywood’s first transgender director. She underwent gender transformation surgery, something Jenner has not.

Alexis Arquette is an actress, musician and cabaret performer, with credits in movies like Pulp friction, Killer Drag Queens on Dope, She’s All That and Children of the Corn V. Her transition from male to female was documented in the film “Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother”.

After the transition, Isis King became the first transgender contestant of America’s Next Top Model. King was born as a male. In 2007, King underwent the gender transformation surgery.

Thomas Beatie, also known as the “pregnant man”, is a trans man who is an advocate for transgender and sexuality issues.
