New video material has come to light in the case of the brutal torture suffered by a 55-year-old foreign woman in Heraklion, Crete, revealing further disturbing scenes of abuse allegedly carried out by the 42-year-old woman accused in the case.

In the new videos included in the case file, the 42-year-old is seen attacking the 55-year-old, repeatedly striking her in the face. In another part of the footage, the victim is lying on the floor, with the perpetrator continuing the assault by kicking her.

These new clips are added to the already extensive video material discovered by police on the 42-year-old’s mobile phone, which is believed to document part of the torture inflicted on the 55-year-old inside a house in the Agia Triada area of Heraklion.

According to case details, at least eleven videos of the abuse of the 55-year-old were found on the accused’s phone. In earlier footage, the 42-year-old is allegedly seen beating the victim with a club until she begins to bleed, while in another recorded incident she appears to cut her hair with an axe while the woman is bound and exhausted.

During the attack, the 55-year-old was subjected to repeated death threats, insults and acts which, according to authorities, constitute an offence against her sexual dignity. At the same time, the 42-year-old is alleged to have blocked the exit of the residence by tying the door with a cable, depriving the victim of any means of escape. The woman ultimately managed to flee when the accused fell asleep.

The case was solved by the Heraklion Sub-Directorate for Crime Investigation and Prosecution, while the motives behind the attack and the exact relationship between the two women remain under investigation.

According to the case file, the 55-year-old managed to escape from the house when the 42-year-old fell asleep, while the existence of the video material was uncovered when police examined the accused woman’s mobile phone as part of an investigation into a separate theft case.

During the course of the investigation, the involvement of a 60-year-old illegal immigrant, the owner of the residence, also emerged. According to the case file, he knew that the two women were in the house, provided the space where the acts took place, and left before the attack began. He was arrested for illegal stay in the country.

The case was uncovered when, in the context of investigating a different case of mobile phone theft, police inspected the device of the 42-year-old woman and discovered video footage of the torture, which led to the full solving of the case.

During searches of the residences, investigators seized, among other items, the axe allegedly used in the attack, clothes with blood stains, a tuft of human hair, a broken wooden staff, as well as the mobile phones of those involved.

According to the police, the 42-year-old was not arrested for this specific case due to the expiry of the in flagrante delicto time limit, while she is already being held for another case. The preliminary investigation continues to fully examine all aspects of the case.
