Athens empties out: More than 43,600 passengers departing from Piraeus for the August 15 holiday – 194 ferry sailings through Sunday

The largest travel exodus is taking place today, Friday, with 30,526 passengers. Figures for the weekend may change due to severe weather conditions

Passenger traffic at the Port of Piraeus is particularly heavy ahead of the August 15 (Dormition of the Virgin Mary) holiday, with current estimates indicating that more than 43,600 passengers are expected to depart by Sunday.

A total of 194 passenger ferry departures have been scheduled from the Tzelepi and Saronic Gulf gates of the port. The busiest day is today, Friday, with 81 scheduled sailings.

However, due to severe and changing weather conditions, the departure schedule for Saturday and Sunday may be modified. Updated information from the competent authorities is expected.

More than 30,500 passengers departing today

Today, August 14, 21 departures have been scheduled from the Tzelepi area, with an estimated 22,894 passengers.

From the Saronic Gulf gates, 35 passenger hydrofoils and 25 passenger/car ferries are departing, carrying a total of 7,632 passengers.

As a result, the total passenger traffic for today is estimated at 30,526 passengers.

Departures over the coming days

On Saturday, August 15, 54 departures are scheduled from the Saronic Gulf: 32 passenger hydrofoils and 22 passenger/car ferries. Passenger traffic is estimated at 6,546 people.

This figure reflects the sailings recorded so far and may be revised depending on the evolution of the weather conditions and any changes to ferry schedules.
