Five wildfire fronts are currently burning. Here is everything you need to know:
- Wildfires broke out Tuesday (August 25) near the Salamina Naval Base in the Elliniko area, in Kalopigado, Keratea, in the Agioi Deka area of Heraklion, Crete, in Stefani, Boeotia, at the Ktypimena location in the Municipality of Almopia, Pella, and in Agios Vlasios, Boeotia.
- The fire in Kalopigado, Keratea, no longer has an active front.
- So far, 112 evacuation alerts have been sent to residents of Ano Vasilika and Nea Salamina (Bizani) on Salamina and to residents of Agia Marina and Tsonima in Keratea. A 112 alert urging residents to remain on standby was also issued for Agioi Deka in Heraklion, Crete.
- Strong ground and aerial firefighting forces are battling the flames.

A thick cloud of black smoke is rising over Salamina following the fire that broke out earlier today in low vegetation and waste near the naval base, in the Elliniko area.

A wildfire broke out Tuesday afternoon (August 25) at Ktypimena, in the Municipality of Almopia, Pella.
A total of 34 firefighters, including two teams from the 2nd EMODE specialized wildfire unit, are operating with nine vehicles and one helicopter.

Fire in Agios Vlasios, Boeotia: 112 evacuation alert toward Livadeia
A wildfire broke out in low vegetation in Agios Vlasios, Boeotia, Tuesday afternoon (August 25).
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., a 112 alert was sent to residents of the Tsoukalades area, instructing them to evacuate toward Livadeia.
Strong ground and aerial firefighting forces have been mobilized. 46 firefighters, two teams from the 4th and 10th EMODE units, and 15 vehicles are operating. From the air, eight aircraft and three helicopters are making water drops. Municipal water tankers are also assisting.
The 112 message said:
“If you are in the Tsoukalades area of the Regional Unit of Boeotia, evacuate toward Livadeia. Follow the instructions of the authorities.”

Traffic restrictions at two locations on Salamina
Traffic police have halted vehicle traffic at two points along Miaouli Street on Salamina.
Traffic has been stopped on Miaouli Street from the intersection with Zoodochou Pigis Street, while a second closure is in effect on the same road from the intersection with Eleftheriou Venizelou Street.
Drivers are urged to exercise particular caution, follow traffic-police instructions and use alternative routes to avoid delays.

Fire in Agioi Deka, Heraklion: 112 alert to remain on standby
The Fire Service was placed on alert Tuesday afternoon (August 25) after a fire broke out in the Agioi Deka area of the Municipality of Gortyna, Heraklion, north of the settlement.
A 112 message was sent to residents, urging them to remain on standby and follow the authorities’ instructions.

Fire continues in a forested area in Stefani, Boeotia: Forces reinforced, eight aircraft/helicopters operating
Firefighting forces have been reinforced at the blaze that broke out earlier in a forested area near Stefani, Boeotia.
Currently, 84 firefighters with 28 vehicles are operating, along with four teams of specialized foot crews from the 1st and 4th EMODE units. From the air, four aircraft and four helicopters are operating, one of the helicopters being used for coordination.
The Municipality of Tanagra is assisting the Fire Service with water tankers.
According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out at around 3:30 p.m. and is developing in difficult terrain, away from populated areas.

Fire situation in Kalopigado, Keratea improves: 112 evacuation alert from Agia Marina and Tsonima toward Lavriou Avenue
The situation has improved at the wildfire that broke out in low vegetation at Kalopigado, in the Lavrio area of Attica, at approximately 3:40 p.m. on August 25, 2026. Firefighters are dealing with scattered hotspots and smoldering areas.
The fire broke out between homes. Shortly after 4:00 p.m., a new 112 alert instructed residents of Agia Marina and Tsonima to evacuate toward Lavriou Avenue.
Earlier, a 112 alert had been sent to residents of Trechantiera, urging them to remain on standby and follow the authorities’ instructions.
A total of 70 firefighters, three teams from the 1st EMODE unit, 23 vehicles and volunteers are operating on the ground. From the air, two aircraft and three helicopters are conducting water drops. Water tankers from the Municipality of Lavrio are also assisting with the firefighting effort.
