Greece is set to experience a deterioration in weather conditions this Tuesday and Wednesday, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecast across several regions, particularly coastal and maritime areas, where localised hailstorms are also possible.

Very strong to storm-force northeasterly winds are also expected in the northern Aegean from Tuesday evening.

According to the emergency weather warning, the following areas will be affected:

Tuesday, 13 October 2026

The Ionian islands of Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, western Central Greece and the western Peloponnese will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms from the morning until late afternoon.

Halkidiki will be affected from midday until late at night.

The Sporades islands, eastern Thessaly (Magnesia) and Evia will see severe weather from the afternoon onwards.

The warning emphasises that storms in these areas will be particularly intense and prolonged.

Northeastern Peloponnese and eastern Central Greece, including Attica, will experience a temporary spell of severe weather from late afternoon until late at night.

The Dodecanese islands will be affected from late at night.

Crete, particularly the regions of Chania and Rethymno, will see heavy rain and thunderstorms from the evening.

Wednesday, 14 October 2026

Heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue across the Sporades, eastern Thessaly (Magnesia) and Evia until late afternoon.

The warning again highlights the intensity and prolonged duration of the storms in these areas.

Severe weather will persist in the Dodecanese until the afternoon.
