The aircraft took off at 16:39 local time on Sunday. During departure, the left side of the aircraft suffered severe damage when it collided with the landing gear arrangement of the opposite runway, which is located near a highway.

Videos and photos of the damaged aircraft show a hole in the fuselage at the base of the left wing. The tail section also sustained damage. Firefighters sprayed foam on the fuselage as fuel seemed to be leaking from the damaged aircraft.

Having difficulty gaining altitude, the aircraft shuddered as it entered a holding mode for about an hour before safely returning to Belgrade Airport, according to Serbian media reports citing passengers. The passengers were evacuated from the aircraft.

Everyone is in good health.
