Germany train crash leaves several people dead

Police said that about 150 people have been injured, of whom 50 are seriously hurt

At least nine people have been killed and 150 injured when two passenger trains collided near the town of Bad Aibling in Bavaria, Germany.

One of the trains was derailed in the crash and several carriages were overturned, according to German media.

Local police spokesman Jürgen Thalmeier told Rosenheim24 that “several people have been killed in the crash.” Süddeutsche Zeitung reports that according to police about 100 people have been injured and some of them seriously.

The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. local time (6:00 GMT), while all local ambulance vehicles have been dispatched to the accident scene.

According to Nordbauyerischer Kurier, eight medical helicopters have been spotted in a nearby field.
