Greek-Azeri friendship sealed through Greek participation at European Games in Baku

Foreign Ministry Spokesman K. Koutras dismissed reports stating that there would be no Greek representation as inaccurate and malicious

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Konstantinos Koutras referred to the level of Greek participation at the European Games in Baku in response to a journalist’s question on a report from the Azerbaijan Press-Release Agency (APA):

“The information and opinions mentioned in the June 6 press release from the Azeri news agency APA, which propagates content from an article published in the Greek press on May 29 are totally inaccurate.

The Greek Ambassador in Baku is working systematically and assiduously to promote cooperation between Greece and Azerbaijan. In the context of the execution of his duties, he has never made a negative recommendation with regard to representation of the Greek government at the highest state level at the European Games in Baku.

Articles attempting to portray Greece as a participant in an international attempt to boycott the Baku European Games are malicious and can only be the figment of a sick imagination.

The Greek government remains fully dedicated to the multifaceted development and cultivation of Greek-Azeri relations in all sectors, and a proposal for a joint action play for further promotion of these relations has been submitted to the Azeri side.

And of course our Azeri friends have our wholehearted wishes for success in the European Games.”
