Greek writer Vassilis Vasilikos died at the age of 89

Writer of “Z” and one of the 10 most translated Greek authors

The famous Greek writer Vassilis Vasilikos died this morning at the age of 89. He had been facing health problems for the last few years.

Vassilis Vassilikos had received many awards and is considered one of the most well-known authors worldwide.

According to Unesco data, he is one of the 10 most translated Greek authors, while he was a SYRIZA Member of State for the four-year term 2019-2023.

Vassilis Vassilikos wrote novels, short stories, plays and poetry.

Among his best-known works are the titles: The Mythology of America, The Speargun, Victims of Peace, The Photographs, The Coroner, The Death of an American, etc.

His most famous, of course, is Z, which became a movie by Costas Gavras.

His books have been translated into 33 languages around the world, including Braille.
