LAFAZANIS : Samaras' claims about 180 MPs is a mere summer night dreaming

SYRIZA spokesman deems impossible for the government to muster 180 MPs in order to elect the President of the Republic

Mr Lafazanis characterizes the Prime Minister’s claims as ”wishful thinking”, considering that achieving this number, in the current form of the Parliament, is impossible.

In his statement from Corinth last night, Mr. Lafazanis reminded that the government had made similar claims earlier, when SYRIZA proposed a referendum regarding the new law on the small PPC.

”He claimed that no more than 120 members of the parliament will ask for a referendum, as well as no less than 180 will be those who will reject it. Yet, he tragically failed in his estimates and had to resort to non democratic and unconstitutional machinations so as to abort the Parliament’s session on the issue in question.”

As he further stated regarding both the government and Mr. Samaras, ”they will once more prove themselves false and no unconstitutional plot will be able to bail them out this time”.

Regarding the economy, SYRIZA spokesman stated that the people are being misled by the government, and the memorandums are far from reaching their end. Not only will they not cease in autumn ,but they are to enter their worst phase, with further consequences on salaries and pensions cuts, the total dissolution of labour rights and the collapse of the country’s social security and pension fund system.

”Only a left wing government will be able to relieve the country of the Troika and its memorandums, renounce austerity and the sell out of our country, thus paving the way for a reconstruction, for outlets and finally make some breathing space.”

Referring to the ”red” loans, he said that the debt to the state, to banks, to insurance funds and to services of general interest has reached an astronomical level approaching the GDP.

”This tragic situation stifles our society and incapacitates our economy, and can’t be tackled with half-measures or dealt with by taking an aspirin”.

Further on, he stated that ”today more than ever we need a left wing government which will nationalize the banks and socially transform them, and instead of keep funding the bankers it will implement a radical social and development plan which will encircle debt relief and even write-offs as regards the weak and vulnerable parts of the population.”

Concerning the Centre-left political spectrum, he mentioned that SYRIZA not only has nothing to do with this so called political wing, but it also remains perpetually unreconciled with it.

”The Centre-left is nothing but a pleasant ”nickname” of the neoliberal mutated social democracy, or just an elegant allas for PASOK and its overt or covert relatives”.

”The Centre-left and the Centre-right are the two wings of the large Political party who operates in favor of the Memorandum, serves the Establishment and is disciplinary and administrative under Troikan control through its authorized employees”.
