The prosecutor intervened due to recent outbreaks of gastroenteritis in the villages of Stefanovikio and Rizomylos in the municipality of Rigas Feraios, Magnesia.

Mayor Rigas Feraios and the president of the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYA) will be asked to explain, while new results are awaited from EODY, currently conducting sampling in the area.

DEYA is investigating the contamination of those being supplied to the villages. Mayor Dimitris Nasikas has not visited the area, but citizens with the symptoms continue to visit the Health Center. Nine children are currently being treated at the pediatric clinic of Volos Hospital and are stable. An elderly person is treated at Volos Hospital, and a minor is treated at Larissa University Hospital.

Kindergartens, primary schools, and daycare centers in Rizomylos and Stefanivikio are closed due to water issues and gastroenteritis cases. Stefanovikio High School operates normally with additional health measures. Residents are advised not to consume water from the network, and health stores should avoid using it until its safety is confirmed.
