Mati: Decision for the 21 defendants to be announced on Easter Monday

The prosecutor has proposed the guilt of 9 defendants and the acquittal of a total of 12 individuals

The curtain falls on April 29 in the trial for the deadly wildfire in Mati in the summer of 2018.

The trial began in October 2022 and is expected to conclude on Easter Monday.

In court today, the lawyers’ speeches were completed, and the judges retired for deliberation to deliver their verdict.

It is reminded that the public prosecutor has proposed the guilt of 9 of the accused and the acquittal of a total of 12 persons, including the Attica Regional Governor Rena Dourou and the Mayor of Marathon, Elias Psinakis.

As stated by the prosecutor, for the nine of the accused for whom guilt was sought, the acts of manslaughter due to negligence, bodily harm due to negligence, and arson due to negligence were proven on occasion.
