Newly-wed Austrian couple in Pelion washed away together with the house where they stayed in

They are missing for a day

A newly-wed couple from Austria went missing in Potistika Pelion when the country house where they were on holiday was swept away by the floods.

Philip and Michaela from Graz, Austria have been missing since the day before yesterday at six o’clock in the afternoon. They came for the umpteenth time for holidays in Pelion and were staying in the rooms where another Austrian couple who were rescued on Tuesday (5/9) were staying, according to gegonota.news.

When the violent storm broke out, the Austrian couple left the rooms and tried to save themselves by climbing the hill of Xinovrisi. On leaving, the owner asked Philip and Michaela to follow them, but they refused as they thought they were safe inside the house.

A short time later, two of her cottages ended up in the sea. “I can’t believe it. The couple had been staying here for three weeks and as soon as they arrived, they got married in Argalasti. They’ve come on holiday many times and they are the same age, about 35 years old. I think they are lost, I’m going crazy. I can’t believe they could have drowned. Yesterday the EMAK arrived in Potistica and rescued 6 people from inside a tavern. We thought Philip and Michaela would be among them, but no. They had met the Austrian couple who were rescued many years ago here in our cottages,” the owner of the cottages told gegonota.news.
