No bottled water in Greek Parliament, orders the house president

It’s tap water time, rules Parliament president — hints at ‘indirect advertising’…

Parliament president Zoi Konstantopoulou on Thursday … banned the use of plastic water bottles in Greek Parliament in another of her “unusual” measures, as her critics decried.

When conservative New Democracy former minister Yiannis Tragakis reportedly asked for a bottle of water during a committee meeting, Konstantopoulou told him that Parliament doesn’t advertise bottled water and said only tap water would be served by Parliament stewards henceforth.

Don’t be surprised if opposition — and ruling — MPs start bringing their own bottled water bottles to sessions, most prominently displayed next to them and in plain view of Konstantopoulou.
