The Greek PM attended a reception with heads of Greek-American organizations

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras held meetings with the heads of several Greek-American organizations in a reception held in New York.

Tsipras said that Greeks of the Diaspora were the best ambassadors of Hellenism in the US, “a country which plays a very important role in the world and in all the important decisions that concern the future of our country.”

The prime minister thanked Greeks living abroad for their efforts over the years regarding the defense of national interests and the fact that they constitute the leading ambassadors of those interests.

Speaking on the refugee crisis, Tsipras said: “We have showed the good, human, and true face of Europe, as poor people gave their savings to refugees.”
