Prime Minister Samaras will travel to Cardiff on Thursday for the NATO Summit

He will be accompanied by government vice-president and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will travel to Cardiff on Thursday in order to attend the two-day NATO Summit in Wales. Government vice-president and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will accompany the Prime Minister on his trip to Wales, where they will have the chance to meet with their NATO counterparts.

Samaras met yesterday afternoon with Venizelos and Avramopoulos in the context of the Greek mission’s preparations. During the NATO summit, the prime minister is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in response to a request by the Turkish side.

Following the statements made by Erdogan on the Cyprus issue during his recent visit to the occupied part of the island, the meeting is expected to be held in a tense atmosphere, focusing mainly on the Cyprus issue and Greek-Turkish relations.

In a meeting held earlier on Wednesday at the Presidential Mansion, the prime minister briefed the President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias on the developments in the Cyprus issue and the NATO Summit meeting.
