The refugee crisis threatens the tourism of the Greek islands and mainland Greece, since bookings are reduced up to 90%.

According to Kathimerini newspaper, Lesvos is affected most since its bookings are reduced by 90% compared to last year, while in Chios the number reaches 60%, Samos 40% and Kos 36%.

The president of Lesvos Hoteliers Association told Kathimerini that the reduction reaches 90%, while he believes that cruise tourism will also be affected.

It is also estimated that bookings in Turkey will also fall by at least 50%.

According to data, this year’s tourist season in Chios will be the worst in 40 years, says the president of the Chios Hoteliers Association, Petros Fegoudakis.

Therefore, the Association sent a letter to Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis and competent ministers asking them to take measures to boost local economy.
