International audiences may be given the chance to enjoy Hugh Jackman as Odysseus in a new film by Francis Lawrence who, fresh from Hunger Games films, Water for Elephants and Constantine has now taken to Homer’s The Odyssey.

Jackman is tipped to be a favorite for the role in a story that may be split into two films. If a deal is reached with Lionsgate studios, the film will be shot early next year from a script by Peter Craig of Mockingjay fame. Meanwhile, the Aussie star will blitzkrieg on movie screens as Captain Hook in Joe Wright’s Pan and is also taking part in the new sports biopic Eddie the Eagle and Christian film Apostle Paul.
