Shocking videos: Crew pushes passenger out of catapult and he drowns

Frame-by-frame the seconds before the tragedy during the Blue Horizon’s departure to Heraklion – The captain & crew members have been arrested

The scenes that you will see in the exclusive video of protothema.gr about the unspeakable tragedy that occurred on Tuesday night in the port of Piraeus with the death of the 36-year-old in the catapult of the Blue Horizon ship are breathtaking and appalling.

The ship is ready for departure from the port of Piraeus bound for the port of Heraklion, Crete.

A man tries to board the ship while the crew of the Blue Horizon has untied the ropes.

The latecomer catches up and climbs onto the catapult of the ship that has not yet left the pier.

And while the 36-year-old has managed to climb the ship’s catapult, two people from the Blue Horizon crew push him out of the ship which continues the departure procedures.

The unfortunate man tries to stay on the catapult and get on the ship to travel to Heraklion, but the two crewmen again push him violently to throw him off the catapult and off the ship.

The man’s effort is in vain, the two large crew members succeed and push him to the edge of the catapult, the part of which is retractable.

The man loses his balance and falls into the sea, in the wake of the main engines of the large passenger ferry that have been started for the departure.

The man fights the waves, it is unknown if he also hit his head or another part of his body falling from the catapult into the sea and shortly after he is pulled up dead while the Blue Horizon ship sails to Heraklion as if nothing had happened.

“We inform the passengers that the delay of the ship’s departure is due to an incident that took place in the port of Piraeus. The ship has no responsibility for the incident. Thank you for your understanding”, was the briefing received by the passengers of the ship while the Blue Horizon was ordered to return to the port of Piraeus, in an unimaginably defiant attempt by the crew to hush up the incident and hide their responsibility.

In the first video passengers can be heard commenting after the crew’s false announcement: “…for a ticket?”.

As everyone who has traveled by ship knows, the ticket for the passenger or the car can also be issued on board, inside the ship’s accounting office.

“Come on, he throw him off the catapult and he died?” comments one of the eyewitnesses and another adds: “He was probably taken under by the propeller and sank…”.

The captain and crew members of the Blue Horizon have been arrested.
