Strong 6.3 earthquake strikes west of Cyprus

The focal depth was about 51 km

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck at 03:07 in the sea off Cyprus, as announced by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The epicentre was reported 131 kilometres west of Nicosia, 55 kilometres northwest of Emba, and 111 kilometres northwest of Limassol.

The focal depth was about 51 km, according to an estimate released by the EMSC.
