AFP correspondents on the scene confirmed that the building next to the embassy had been leveled, in an upscale neighborhood of Damascus.

Iranian media outlets, on their part, reported that “Hossein Akbari, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Damascus, and his family were unharmed by the Israeli attack.”
