SYRIZA deals with the results with a pleasure that it is difficult to hide and low temper tactics, stating, though, that the results of the first round in Attica and Athens municipality mean defeat of the government.

Mr Tsipras arrived at SYRIZA’s headquarters shortly after 10.30 and said “The best goals are scored in second round”.

Earlier during an urgent meeting held at SYRIZA’s headquarters under Alexis Tsipras it was decided to keep low temper and avoid being triumphant on the results gained by Rena Dourou and Gabriel Sakellaridis in Attica and Athens respectively.

“The power of social expression and victory comes alone, by itself, we don’t need to appear as if we talk in advance”, SYRIZA leadership noted.

SYRIZA believes that today was the first step to overthrown the governmental schemes, that a social dynamic was expressed that must and can be expressed in European elections, too. “In European elections more people will support us” they stated.

Around 21:00 on Sunday night, a close associate of Alexis Tsipras diversified slightly the initial estimate of SYRIZA. “There is an undeniable fact that the ruling party does not have a candidate in the second round of elections in the municipality of Athens and Attica,” said talking on protothema.gr.

The main opposition party believes that the way towards political developments opens via the European elections, but at this stage it does not pose any other matter concerning national elections or anything related.

However, SYRIZA underlines that “the pollsters were proved wrong”, as opinion polls hadn’t recorded the dynamic of Mrs Dourou and Mr Sakellaridis.
