Texas biker gang conflict: 9 dead, 18 wounded

Outside the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco

Nine people died during a violent shootout between two gangs outside a Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas. More than 18 people were wounded from the firefight, which began inside the restaurant and continued outside with deadly results.

Authorities were investigating the gangs’ presence in the area before the incident. The biker gangs began their conflict inside the restaurant, with hundreds involved. No bystanders were hurt, but firearms, chains, knives and other weapons were used in the conflict.

Even though the area was placed under control quickly and prevented even more victims, there were initial fears that oncoming biker gang members would stir more trouble. However, police were present and detained everyone nearing the restaurant.
