Paris attackers: What we know about them so far – how the 8th attacker got away!

Huge manhunt is on to find accessories to the suicide bombings

French authorities have launched raids across France as the country. Counter-terrorism units have reportedly made at least three arrests in Toulouse as they hit positions in Toulouse, Grenoble, Calais, Bobigny, and Jeumont, near the Belgian border. The raids have not been directly connected to the Paris attacks but are part of a broader anti-terrorist operation centered on locations in Mirail, the former home of Mohamed Merah, who killed three Jewish children, a rabbi and three paratroopers in 2012.

French authorities are scrambling to find Abdesalam Salah, who is believed to have taken part in the Paris attacks. French police reportedly questioned Salah just hours after the deadly rampage, only to let him go.

Salah, aged 26, a brother of one of the attackers who died is thought to have rented the black Volkswagen Polo used during the attack at Bataclan. Though he was born and lived in Belgium, he is a French antional. He had been stopped close to the border with Belgium following the attacks but was allowed to leave because his name had not been on any wanted list that time. Police say he is dangerous and is believed to be traveling in the direction of the Belgian border.

French police put out a wanted notice for Salah Abdeslam in connection with Friday’s attacks in Paris.

Three attackers at the Bataclan Concert

Omar Ismail Mostefai, aged 29, was the first attacker to be  identified among the group of at least three terrorists at the Bataclan concert. He blew himself up as police stormed the building and was later identified through fingerprints. He had eight convictions for petty crimes between 2004 and 2010 but had never been implicated in terrorist activities.

The other two attackers have yet to be identified. Like Mostefai they detonated suicide belts.

One Boulevard Voltaire attacker

Ibrahim (aka Brahim) Abdeslam, aged 31, was one of three brothers involved in the attacks. He has been identified as the man who rented a Seat car used in the attacks. He detonated his explosive vest at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe where he killed himself and injured a bystander.

Three Stade de France Attackers

Bilal Hadfi, aged 19 or 20 years, lived in Belgium. Police know he lived in Belgium prior to the attack and had fought alongside the Islamic State in Syria though it is not known exactly when he was there.

Ahmad Almohamed, aged 25, was identified  by a passport found near his body. He had been registered as a refugee who landed on the Greek island of Leros on October 3.
