Venizelos : “The patient of these elections is SYRIZA”

“Some people are mad about the fact that Greece is exiting the memorandum period” the president of PASOK said

The results of the first round of local and regional elections as well as the European elections were the main topics Mr Evangelos Venizelos discussed during the press conference today.

The press conference started at 12.00 with Mr. Venizelos referring again to stability issue saying that this does not mean stagnation, nor new sacrifices.

“Some people are mad about the fact that Greece is exiting the memorandum period” said Evangelos Venizelos, stressing that no new measures will be applied.

According to Mr. Venizelos, only one tenth of the loan we received from Troika is to be paid to IMF and as he pointed out when it will be paid off there will be “no troika”.

Regarding the local and regional elections, he said that Greek people responded with maturity and wisdom and he said that he believes that people will respond with the same way in second round.

Mr. Venizelos also described the support that New Democracy showed to Mr Kaminis and Mr Sgouros as a “responsible attitude”.

“The patient of these elections is SYRIZA”

Mr. Venizelos also lashed out at SYRIZA by saying that it “is the patient of these elections”.

“On Sunday evening, between 19.00 and 21.00, Greece experienced an illusion because of SYRIZA and its leader Alexis Tsipras’ premature celebrations, who described the elections as a referendum and set the bar high,” stated the president of PASOK.

Also, Mr Venizelos stressed that SYRIZA puts the country’s safe exit from the crisis and the memorandum into doubt but this would not happen because people will vote in a mature way just as they did on the first Sunday of the elections.

Venizelos also said that Tsipras helped citizens better comprehend the dilemma he raised, so Greeks will better understand what is at stake next Sunday. At these elections, he added, the legitimacy of the government and its endurance are tested while the course of exiting the crisis is determined.
