A car was engulfed in flames in downtown Athens on Monday morning. The fire broke out on Syggrou avenue at the height of Fix outside the National Museum of Contemporary Art.
Firefighters immediately rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.
So far there has been no report on how the fire broke out but according to eyewitness accounts a woman was driving the car and there was a child on board. They both managed to escape the vehicle before the flames engulfed the car.
Due to the fire, the road on the descent from the columns of Olympian Zeus to the Syggrou-Fix station remains closed.
