Four month extension to correct property tax errors

Fine reduced to 50 Euros for delays from 100

The Greek government passed a tax amendment allowing taxpayers for a 4-month extension to rectify any errors included in their E-9 property tax statement. As sources from the Finance Ministry say, the tax services have proceeded with the bulk of the citizens’ property tax clearances and the amounts people will be called on to pay should become available online by mid-August. The extension is given with a 50% discount for any errors till November 30, as the Finance Ministry has ascertained that a large number of taxpayers have made errors in filling in the E-9 property tax statements. The most frequent errors, according to the tax services have been detected in the declaration of farming plots and urban properties, while another common mistake had been declaring the wrong storey of a building. Based on the new amendment citizens have to chance to correct their mistakes in the E-9 document until November 30 and will be charged with a 50 Euro fine for the delay, from the 100 Euros it was before.
