Julia Roberts made a protest at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival by refusing to wear shoes while walking on the red carpet.

The 48-year-old Oscar winner draw the attention when she took off her shoes midway down the red carpet, after arriving in heels.

Her protest comes a year after Cannes suffered huge controversy over an apparent policy dictating women must wear high heels on the red carpet.

About 50 female stars were turned away from a screening of Carol at last year’s event because they wore flats instead of heels, as Eonline reports.

People had criticized the film festival for that decision, while Emily Blunt was one star who was particularly outraged by it.
