A sarcastic tweet posted today by Hugo Dixon of Reuters news agency on the festivities and the military parade held in Athens on the occasion of Greece’s Independence Day has sparked a deluge of negative comments for his disrespectful stance.

Dixon posted a photo from the parade, showing tanks in front of the Greek parliament and accompanied it with the following caption: “This is how radical left Syriza plus nationalist Independent Greeks celebrate Independence Day.”

However, after a number of angry comments characterizing his tweet as disrespectful and rude, the journalists posted an apologetic message.
