SYRIZA leader Tsipras accuses PM Samaras of being troika’s lackey

He accused the prime minister of always doing the bidding of Greece’s international lenders

Newsroom January 18 11:53

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras slammed on Saturday Prime Minister Antonis Samaras for being the troika’s lackey, during his speech at a pre-election rally in Agrinio, a large city in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece.

More specifically, he accused the prime minister of always doing the bidding of Greece’s international lenders and of deceiving  the Greek people with  regard to the commitments the government has made.

Making specific reference to “shameful emails” that prove the government’s corruption, Mr. Tsipras said that the Prime Minister’s office, the government and the troika are plotting to pass new austerity measures, bypassing the Greek parliament.

Moreover, the main opposition leader accused the Prime Minister of scaremongering and noted that Mr. Samaras is asking for the people’s vote in order to go on with the pay cuts, the collective lay-offs and the memoranda.

“The government, along with the Troika and the Greek oligarchs cynically conspire against workers. They shamelessly play politics with human lives. Samaras’ government acts as a legal advisor of large companies so that collective redundancies are formally approved. Mr. Samaras has ruled the country as a lackey of troika and the oligarchy and this is what he intends to rule in the future,” Mr. Tsipras said.
