First refugees arrive at Kyllini refugee centre

The resort was a major tourist attraction in Kyllini

Seven buses carrying about 350 Syrian refugees, mainly families with young children, arrived shortly after 6pm at abandoned LM Village in Myrsini, Kyllini, which will be used as a refugee center.

LM Village is a resort, which was built in the Myrsini, Andravida-Kyllini region, and began its operation in 1998, attracting many tourists and contributing in the economic development of the area.

The resort had been granted by Myrsini district to Municipality of Ano Liosia which took a 800 million euros loan and had even signed an agreement with travel agency TUI in Germany in order to create a high-quality tourist attraction in the region.

The resort had been running for about nine tourist seasons and was a major tourist attraction in Kyllini. It had great facilities, including swimming pools, restaurants and playgrounds, while the bungalows were equipped with air conditioning, kitchen, TV, telephone and mini bar.
