Singular Logic will only announce an assessment on the European Elections, while for the local elections the analysts will have to wait until late at night to draw the first conclusions.

In connection with the European elections, the first assessment is expected to be released between 9.30 pm and 10.00 pm. The exact time of the first assessment’s announcement depends on the judicial representatives’ schedule. If the procedure designated by the Ministry of Interior is followed, the first assessment will be announced no earlier than 9.30 pm.

It should be noted that Singular Logic will also proceed to an assessment for the MEP candidates. According to the relevant announcement, this specific estimate will be based on 20% of the data available to the centers of the Ministry of Interior, in the seats of the old prefectures across the country. Of course, this assessment will only take into account the parties that received 3% and thus elect an MEP. The process of formulating the estimate regarding MEPs will not take place today, but it will start on Monday morning, so that the first conclusions can be drawn by the evening of the same day.

Given the limited number of the communication devices, it was decided to focus on European elections, as they are of larger political interest.

“It’s the toughest elections we’ve ever experienced,” say the Singular Logic officials, as they involve a large number of parties and candidates. More specifically, 43 parties will participate in the European Elections, 22,561 polls will be set and the number of the candidates reaches 1,251. In each European ballot, the voter can select four MEP candidates. If more crosses are added, the ballot will be void as to the candidates, but valid as to the vote to the party.

Interior Minister Yannis Michelakis said the following regarding the electoral process: “Since 7 am across the country citizens go to the polls to vote for the European elections and the second round of local elections. It is an unprecedented process, as we are voting for the first time for three different elections. However, everything is running smoothly. There have been no hassles, no delays. Some common glitches that occurred were dealt with immediately. It should be noted that everything is also running smoothly in the two islands where yesterday’s powerful earthquake was most intense, i.e. Lemnos and Samothrace. The Ministry of Interior is in a state of constant readiness to ensure the smooth conduct of elections. Today the citizens choose their mayors, regional governors and the country’s representatives in the European Parliament for the next five years. Let’s not allow others to decide for us, through our abstention.”

It is also worth mentioning that the Interior Ministry has taken all necessary measures to prevent an attack from hackers on the website where the results will be posted. According to Singular Logic, such an attack is not possible, as the system is closed and not accessible via the net.
