A special concert dedicated to the children will take place on Wednesday, September 10, at Technopolis in Gazi in Athens aiming to support the operation of the school at Kobani at northern Syria.
The artists Yannis Zouganelis, Stamatis Kraounakis, Dionysis Tsaknis, Vasilis Lekkas, Yiota Nega, Nena Venetsanou, Kalliopi Vetta, Erophile, Antonis Mitzelos, Stamatis Morfonios, Dionysis Kalafatis, Perseus Dream will join their voices in a concert held by the non-profit organization “Association of scientists and artists for children of Northern Syria” under the auspices of Unesco.
The actors Eleni Gerasimidou, Katia Gerou, Dimitra Chatoupi are also participate in the concert.
Also, an exhibition will be held at the building “Neoi Fournoi” of Technopolis showing works of the students of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Western Macedonia and all money raised will be given for the same cause.
The exhibition will open on September 4 at 20:00 and will be open daily from 11:00 to 13:00 until September 10.
The “Association of scientists and artists for children of Northern Syria” is consisted of scientists and artists and was established to help children of Syria affected by the war.
The organization managed to open and operate the Greek-Kurdish house at Kobani region where about one hundred children from six to fourteen years old are following courses of elementary education (foreign languages, such as Greek, arts and computers).
The purpose of the association is:
a) to educate the children of northern Syria and to assist and complement the work of the existing school and the educational process.
b) to provide health care to these children.
c) to establish and operate schools in Northern Syria, and particularly in Kobani district for learning particular languages (Kurdish, Arabic, Greek, English, French), science (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science) and music.
d) to establish, equip and operate clinics and health centers in northern Syria.
e) to support the children in northern Syria by sending educators, psychologists, artists and creators.
