A refugee woman and her underaged son were killed after being hit by speeding car in front of the Oreokastro refugee reception centre, in northern Greece, late Sunday night. The woman died upon impact, while the young boy passed away at the hospital where he was later transferred. The vehicle also hit another child, which was also transferred to hospital. Police arrested the driver, who is currently in custody. The incident sparked the outrage of the refugees and migrants, who started rioting and reacted by lighting the car, as well as rubbish bins outside the refugee camp ablaze. The situation at the centre is still out of control and riot police units have been deployed on the scene. Refugees are hurling rocks against police, who have used stun and flash grenades to restore order and contain the rioters in the camp. Refugees at the centre decided to organise sit in protests on Monday, demanding more safety measures on the road running outside the camp.
