The Syrian Army has decided to go ahead with a plan of forming all-women units based on volunteers. The first such unit has been formed in Qamishli, the biggest Kurdish city at the Northeast Syria. The unit has no age limit, and there is already a video released of the volunteers being trained in small arms and checkpoint duties.
Since 2011 the Syrian Army had left this part of the country to the Kurdish militias to protect, as the forces were needed in other parts of Syria against FSA and ISIS.
