“We are always in favour of the use of diplomacy,” said the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Russia today said it was “ready” for talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, whom Sergei Lavrov’s counterpart is expected to meet in Geneva on Thursday, following Moscow’s recognition of self-proclaimed pro-democracy supporters and pro-Russian separatists.
“Even in the most difficult moments (…), we say: we are ready for the negotiation process, for this reason, our position remains the same. We are always in favour of the use of diplomacy,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement posted on YouTube.
The Russian ministry, meanwhile, said Moscow must first ratify the friendship agreements with Donetsk and Luhansk before discussing issues such as the exact borders of the regions, RIA Novosti reported.
