Kostas Papanikolaou had been insisting on new shoes for the Olympic Games. He repeatedly asked Giannis Antetokounmpo for this, as the Olympiacos forward has been using shoes bearing Giannis’s name for many years.
During the National Team’s training sessions at the Peristeri indoor court, Papanikolaou told Antetokounmpo that he should be ashamed if he let him wear his old, worn-out shoes at the Olympic basketball tournament. The Greek Freak confidently responded that the… gift was coming.
And it arrived! In a story posted by Antetokounmpo, there are carts filled with boxes of shoes in blue and white colors. On the side of the boxes are the Antetokounmpo brothers’ numbers (43, 37, 34, 29) and the words “Family Business.” Shortly after, a video appeared showing Giannis delivering the boxes.
Each member of the Greek delegation received a pair to wear on the courts of Lille and Paris, should the team advance to the knockout stage.
Greece is in the same group as Canada, Australia, and Spain. The first tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, at 22:00, against Canada.
