London: “Activists” threw soup at a Van Gogh painting again

A little earlier three people had been convicted for the vandalism of the painting "Sunflowers 1888" that had taken place in October 2022

Newsroom September 27 10:09

Supporters of “Just Stop Oil” threw soup on two Vincent van Gogh paintings at London’s National Gallery, hours after two eco-terrorists were sentenced to prison terms for vandalizing one of the works they targeted on Friday.

Three members of the group, two women and one man, threw orange soup at the paintings, one of which was “Sunflowers 1888.”

Meanwhile witnesses chanted “no” and “don’t do it”, the BBC reports.

“Be on the right side of history,” one of the protesters shouted as she stood in front of the panel, wearing a “Just Stop Oil” T-shirt.

The activists were immediately arrested.

Earlier today, Friday, Phoebe Plummer, 23, was sentenced to two years in prison, while Anna Holland, 22, was sentenced to 20 months for throwing soup on the 1888 Sunflowers in October 2022.

The vandalism caused £10,000 worth of damage to the frame.
