The funeral of the 68-year-old man who died in the early hours of Saturday 28 September from a knife wound inflicted by his 48-year-old wife in Corfu has taken place.

The funeral, which took place today, Wednesday, October 2, at 15:00 in the church of St. Spyridon Kosella, in Corfu, was attended by his two daughters – the 11-year-old daughter from his second marriage to the 48-year-old woman and the 42-year-old daughter from his first marriage – who are trying to cope with the difficult circumstances surrounding the death of their father with deep sadness.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old Russian woman, who confessed to stabbing and killing her husband early Saturday morning, was taken to an investigator today.

According to corfutvnews.gr, her lawyer Gerasimos Grammenos spoke about the case and the 48-year-old woman’s defense, who said that he had been in contact with the woman.

According to him, “Her defense is that it all happened when she was trying to defend herself from an incident of violence that unfolded in the kitchen of the house. There she grabbed whatever was in front of her and under intense pressure managed to strike a blow to the deceased.”

The chronicle of the case

On Saturday, the 68 man was found inside his home in Corfu, in the Perama area.

Initially, his wife was allegedly the one who found the body, but as we reported in a protothema.gr report, the 48-year-old woman finally confessed to his murder.

Still, the reasons that led to the crime have not been made public, but the couple had occasionally been a concern to the authorities for cases of domestic violence, which made the police put the victim’s wife at the center of the investigation from the start.

Specifically the domestic violence passings were three. The first was in 2022 when the man sued the wife for domestic violence, and the other two were in 2024 in January and February with both suing.
