This is the first time since October 8 that Israeli fighter jets have targeted an area where Hezbollah is not active.
The Lebanese Red Cross reports that Israeli fighter jets recently struck the northern part of the country for the first time since operations began. According to the humanitarian organization, an Israeli airstrike hit an apartment building in the village of Aitou, located in the Sgarta district. Initial reports indicate at least 18 deaths, with the number of injured still unknown.
Northern Lebanon is not a Hezbollah stronghold. The area hit by the airstrike is historically home to Christian communities, specifically Maronite Catholics.
The Israeli military has not yet made any statements regarding this specific attack.
