Ten gang members were arrested yesterday, Monday (2/12) by the Athens Sub-Division for the Prosecution and Detection of Crimes, including eight minors, accused of moving drugs in Athens schools.
The case file formed against them for – on occasion – gang, as well as violations of the customs code and laws on drugs, weapons and fireworks and flares, includes 7 more people, including parents of the above gang members, for neglect of supervision of a minor.
Specifically, the investigation revealed that gang members, including students, were trafficking drugs to two schools and were to supply cannabis packages to students participating in a 5-day school field trip, scheduled to depart in the afternoon hours yesterday.
To stop their action, a police operation was carried out in the context of which searches were conducted in homes, during which findings were found that attested to criminal activity, such as heroin, cannabis, rubbers, as well as firecrackers and other objects. Furthermore, a quantity of cannabis, weighing 908 grams, was found ready for distribution, namely divided into 319 sachets.
The following were found and seized:
– Nylon packets of cannabis with a total gross weight of 3 kilograms and 149 grams,
– several measuring bags, precision scales, a package of tea bags, -2- hemp grinders,
– a nylon package containing a drug substance, probably heroin, with a total gross weight of 206 grams,
– 6 packets of cigarettes without an indicative excise tax band,
– sword,
– 13 firecrackers, a knife, an imitation weapon (replica), a folding knife (switchblade),
– two-wheeled motorcycle,
– 975 euros and
– 13 mobile phones.
The arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
