On Tuesday morning, a 48-year-old man was arrested by the Directorate of Cybercrime for a repeated case of intellectual property violation.
According to the Greek Police (ELAS), after investigating a related complaint, it was found that the accused had been operating as an illegal reseller of subscription TV channels with the aim of making illicit financial gains.
More specifically, the 48-year-old is said to have stolen hundreds of user authentication codes from subscription TV companies and, using specialized equipment, was decoding, encoding, and illegally retransmitting content to servers managed by resellers.
In this context, a police search was carried out at homes, with the assistance of a judicial officer, during which the following were found and seized:
• 11,000 euros
• 119 IPTV receivers
• 27 hard drives
• 6 computers
• External storage device (USB)
• 2 routers
• 2 “switches”
• 2 mobile phones
The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Directorate for laboratory expertise, while the seized money will be deposited in the Deposit and Loan Fund.
The arrested individual was brought before the competent judicial authority.
