Angelos Bratsis: Carte Blanche and haute couture brides

Just before the year ended, the popular designer hosted friends from various fields at his atmospheric atelier to present his new collection that celebrates the color white

In his Kolonaki atelier, Angelos Bratsis presented the stunning “Carte Blanche” collection of white haute couture wedding gowns. People from the fashion world and showbiz gathered at his atelier, which once belonged to the influential architect Ioannis Despotopoulos. The atelier blends modernism and artistic vision harmoniously, which now serves as the base for the talented designer’s work.

The new collection is a breathtaking array of white bridal gowns made from the finest silk fabrics, showcasing the handmade techniques that are the atelier’s signature.

“The sculptural quality the color white gives ensures every intricate detail shines through without leaving anything unnoticed. Each dress is custom-made at the atelier, tailored to each silhouette. I personally do all the fittings, ensuring that every design is made with absolute precision for the woman who will wear it,” said Bratsis.

The signature of the “Carte Blanche” bridal collection lies in the unique fabric cutting techniques, which both serve movement and act as decorative elements, flawlessly combining form and function. “This collection reflects my deep appreciation for femininity and its translation into geometric forms,” Bratsis added.

For Angelos Bratsis, the fashion world is an endless journey through fabrics, patterns, and celebrities. The son of a seamstress, he fondly recalls the sound of the sewing machine. After studying at Veloudakis School, he went on to the famous Fashion Institute Arnhem in the Netherlands. However, it was Italy that would grant him international recognition. In 2011, he won the “Who is on Next” project, a collaboration between Altaroma and Italian Vogue.

International media closely followed Bratsis’s career from the start. In January 2013, Wallpaper magazine listed him among the promising talents of the future. The renowned fashion critic Suzy Menkes praised him in a special feature in British Vogue, writing that his draped dresses could dress Clytemnestra in an operatic version.

“I studied in Paris under Hubert Robert at the Hurel House, specializing in haute couture embroidery for brands like Chanel. I then went to Rome, where I worked at the Gattinoni house designing prêt-à-porter and haute couture collections. A significant moment in my career was my participation in the ‘Dutch Touch’ Paris & New York Campaign, dressing the windows of ‘Maria Luisa’ and the Fashion Museum garden in Paris, as well as collaborating with Roberto Cavalli. Fashion houses, no matter how big or prestigious, listen to and adopt the creativity of new designers,” Bratsis explained.
