A woman, identified as a member of an international criminal network, was arrested while attempting to smuggle over 26 kilos of raw cannabis (skunk) through “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport.
The woman had arrived from a foreign country and had hidden the drugs inside two suitcases, which were immediately confiscated.
Official Statement from the Hellenic Police (ELAS):
“Following an operation by the Drug Enforcement Subdivision of the Directorate for Organized Crime, a woman was arrested yesterday, Thursday, February 13, 2025, in the afternoon, at Athens International Airport ‘Eleftherios Venizelos,’ for possession of a large quantity of raw cannabis.”
“She is a member of an international criminal group involved in the smuggling of hydroponically grown raw cannabis (skunk) into Greece through ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ Airport, with the intent to distribute it further.”
“Her arrest was part of targeted actions by the above Service. Following a detailed analysis of information and the creation of suspect profiles (profiling), authorities were able to identify her in the airport’s arrival area as she entered the country from abroad.”
“Specifically, she was found in possession of packages containing hydroponically grown raw cannabis (skunk) with a total gross weight of 26 kilos and 400 grams, which she had concealed inside two suitcases. Additionally, authorities seized €195 and a mobile phone.”
“The detainee was brought before the competent prosecutorial authority.”
