According to a statement from the Ministry of Development, after months of consultations with all market stakeholders (supermarkets, the food industry, multinational corporations)—to clearly define what constitutes a discount or an offer and how related promotional activities should be conducted—the General Secretariat of Commerce has completed the drafting of the Code of Conduct.

The enhanced Code of Conduct, which will include new cases of consumer law violations as well as examples of misleading discounts and offers, will be officially announced on Thursday, March 6.

A ten-day period of market awareness and familiarization will follow, and starting Monday, March 17, intensive inspections will be carried out by the competent authorities to enforce the Code of Conduct.
